Special Opportunity to Join the Committee!
Ever thought about getting more involved in the political process?
Now is a rare opportunity.
Due to the recent resignations of Linda Mussmann, Claudia Bruce and Lynn Sloneker and the untimely death of Bob Soto, There are currently 4 open seats on the Hudson City Democratic Committee. We are seeking motivated individuals who are looking to get more involved in the electoral process.
2009 is a pivotal year in Columbia County. Democrats need pick up only 2 more seat on the Board of Supervisors to take the majority. Republicans have ruled Columbia County for decades.
The seats that are vacant are 2 seats representing the 4th Ward, one representing the 5th Ward 1st District and another representing the 3rd Ward 2nd District. You can view a map with the Ward and Districts by clicking here. You do not necessarily have to live in one of the districts to fill a vacant seat. An appointment to these seats will be to fill the unexpired term of each. The term is up in September 2009. If you decide that you would want to continue on the committee, you would have to run for the seat in the September 2009 Primary Election.
A seat on the City Committee also conveys and seat on the Columbia County Democratic Committee as well. The City Committee and County Committee meet once a month on the 2nd Tuesday and the 3rd Wednesday of each month and attendance is expected at each.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to learn the campaign and electoral process from the ground up. People interested in affecting change in your community are particularly encouraged to apply.
In order to serve on the committee you must be a registered Democrat and you must have lived in Columbia County for one year. Preference will be given to people either living in or having a business connection to the districts.
If you are interested in putting yourself forward for any of these seats, please send a letter indicating your interest promptly to email@example.com.
