Hudson Dems Endorse Scalera

HUDSON—At a special meeting on Thursday, the Hudson City Democratic Committee voted to endorse Mayor Richard Scalera as its candidate for mayor in November.

"After much thought and frank discussion, the HCDC decided to support Rick Scalera," said Victor Mendolia, chair of the HCDC.
"We are in the early stages of what looks to be a long period of economic stress and political upset," Mendolia continued. "The HCDC believes that in this time of stressful change, Hudson will be best administrated by someone with the hands-on experience of managing the city, who is able to argue effectively on behalf of the city in the state and federal arenas."

"We were lucky, and so were the residents of Hudson, to have two talented individuals interested in being mayor of Hudson," said Mendolia. The committee sees Eileen Halloran, the other applicant for endorsement, "as a key member of the Hudson Democratic Party" he said.
