Mendolia Leaves Executive Team

After ten years, Victor Mendolia steps down from the Hudson City Democratic Committee (HCDC) Executive Team.

At the February 9 HCDC meeting, HCDC Chair Michael Chameides accepted Victor Mendolia’s resignation as HCDC Second Vice-Chair. Mendolia remains on the HCDC as a committee member.

“After a decade on the Hudson Democrats leadership team, I want to focus on other projects.” says Mendolia. “The organization is in great hands and I look forward to continuing to build the party as a member of the Hudson City Democratic Committee”

“I’m grateful for Victor’s dedication and many years of service,” says Michael Chameides, Chair of the HCDC. “I’ve learned a lot from him. In the past few months several HCDC members have taken on more responsibility and we are in a good period of transition. We will continue to increase our volunteer base and work for progress for all.”

2016 has already proven to be an exciting year for Hudson and for the Democratic Party. Hudson has a new mayor, Tiffany Martin Hamilton, working to move Hudson forward; there is great buzz about Democratic candidates for State and National positions and the Presidential campaign is kicking into high gear.

The Hudson City Democratic Committee is looking toward 2016 as an exciting and instrumental year. They recently launched an Events Working Group to further engage the public, build awareness of the Democratic Committee, and identify new volunteers. A free screening of Selma in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was recently held as well as a meet the candidate reception with State Senate candidate Shaun Francis. Both were very well attended.

HCDC members are elected biannually during the local Primary Election - there are two members for each of the six election districts. The HCDC also elects a slate of five officers at the organizational meeting following the Primary. Officers do not need to be one of the twelve election district representatives. Vacancies can be filled at any time by a majority vote of the HCDC.

The HCDC is actively looking for volunteers. Interested in getting involved with the HCDC? Contact Michael Chameides at michael@chameid.es to discuss volunteer opportunities.
